Top 5 Global Crisis: Looking ahead to 2024, at a near-term event horizon that the world cannot wish away without addressing with immediate responses in international politics or economics or human suffering. These are the global issues, from geopolitical tensions to climate disasters that have reshaped or soon will reshape our world. Here is my list of the top five crises with which we may need to get involved.

1. Rising Tensions in Russia-Ukriane standoff

The conflict across the border in Ukraine with Russia is a still percolating global hot point. Fighting has intensified in the area, leading to mass displacement of civilians and climbing casualties on both sides. The conflict has shaken the world economy by hitting energy and food supplies — Ukraine is a vital grain supplier, while sanctions on Russian energy exports have pushed up prices. It is one of the most dangerous issues this year as efforts to resolve it through dialogue have gone nowhere.

2. Sudan Civil War

Rival factions have made clear that they intend to fight it out, with a civil war raging in Sudan as power and resources change hands. The fighting has devastated infrastructure, killed thousands of civilians and forced hundreds of thousands to flee their homes. This has heightened famine and disease outbreaks in effect where they are becoming hopeless problems to manage for the international community. 3. Disasters from Global Climate Consequences

The impacts of global climate change that is furiously moving in an increasing scale and nature have caused wide-spread natural disasters globally. Freak weather events are on the rise — from devastating heatwaves to record rainfall and wildfires: half a decade ago, it was two thousand people caught in one of these brutal spates; within days, fifty million find themselves facing its fury. Urban and rural areas have been destroyed in countries like America, Canada, Australia and many parts of Europe. Rising sea levels are also a problem as, threatening coastal communities — especially island nations/smaller island states and others living in low-lying areas such as Bangladesh. The world is not doing enough to combat climate change, with still unresolved talks over reducing carbon emissions goals.

4. The Economic Chaos in the Developing Countries

Economic turbulence in emerging economies with pockets of Latin America and Asia being worst hit. Hyperinflation, skyrocketing debt and currency debasement are driving severe economic crises. Poverty and unemployment is everywhere in Argentina, Pakistan and Venezuela sparking social fevers. The aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic and geopolitical conflicts such as Russia-Ukraine war have weakened global supply chains, putting these countries in an even more vulnerable position. Calls for international financial bodies to intervene — using institutions such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to bail out these banks and governments — are being made but no one has a real idea of better long-term measures.

5. Middle East Tensions – Israel and Palestine Recent Clashes.

An attack in Jerusalem has triggered fresh tensions between Israel and Palestine, further escalating the violence conflict in West Asia. In the West Bank and Gaza, Israeli forces stormed deployments of Palestinian groups on Wednesday night as a result clashes which caused civilians losses, extensive arrests among Palestinians,,, AJEnglish Clashes between… Conditions in Gaza deteriorating still further, with electricity cuts more prolonged and regular than ever over the past months.
